I apologise for my absence,

I've been caught up in watching Doctor Who, starting with the new season one. After that I will probably read the books. I've been completely behind on my reviews and I'm terribly sorry (not that I have any dedicated readers) but I will get caught back up eventually.

Into the Wild - Erin Hunter

Into the Wild (Warriors Series #1)Into the Wild by Erin Hunter
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book is amazing! Rusty is such a compelling character. He leaves his life as a 'kittypet' and ventures out into the forest to join the ThunderClan. His struggles from apprentice to warrior keep you glued to the pages. I read this book in two sittings I believe. Rusty (Firepaw, Fireheart) never looses his faith in himself and his clan while he finds he way. There's a bloodthirsty warrior looking to become deputy, a struggle among the four cat clans, murder, mystery and a sense of family. Erin Hunter has an amazing imagination. Reading the second book now!

Great Bear Lake - Erin Hunter

Great Bear Lake (Seekers, #2)Great Bear Lake by Erin Hunter
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Erin Hunter has done it again. This book followed along with the first so well. The story continues with Kallik, Lusa, Toklo and Ujurak. They finally get to the gathering of each species of bear. This book deals with the struggle of the last leg of the journey and the starvation of the bears. Each species of bear is starving, they're praying to the spirits to bring them food and a good year. Toklo gets over his fear of water and Kallik FINALLY finds her brother. Lusa meets more bears of her kind and makes a few friends of her own. A few new characters are added, but they don't take away from the overall story. I can't wait to see if they make it to the place where the spirits dance in the sky!

The Quest Begins - Erin Hunter

The Quest Begins (Seekers Series #1)The Quest Begins by Erin Hunter
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I read this book after seeing a fanpic of the main bears on deviantART. I was pleasantly surprised. The book is well written and fast paced. I loved the idea of different types of bears and the struggle of living in the wild. I was drawn in from the beginning. I adore books written in different points of view, especially when they switch from one to the other, a cliffhanger at the end of each. The difference between the bears is great too. You have one from the ice with a loving mother and brother. Another from the forest with a sickly brother and a mother who appears to love the other more than him. The last is a bear from the zoo or 'Bear Bowl,' who has never seen the wild. Each bear is described really well and you feel for each one, hoping they make it through each obstacle.

You've made a fangirl out of me.

Sun Kissed - Catherine Anderson

Sun Kissed (Kendrick/Coulter/Harrigan #7)Sun Kissed by Catherine Anderson

I've been in a ranch/stable/cowboy mood. My grandmother gave me a box of her books (thank goodness she has great taste) and I cracked this one open. It was the perfect fix. Love, drama, heartbreak, crime and horses. What more could a girl ask for? It's number seven in the series and I really don't think they have to be read in order. I didn't find out that it was a series until I had almost finished the book. If you want any type of romantic cowgirl book, pick this one up and you'll fly through the pages. I will be finishing the rest of the series.

Perfect end of summer read!

The Quicksilver Faire - Gillian Summers

The Quicksilver Faire (Scions of Shadow #2)The Quicksilver Faire by Gillian Summers
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I have loved this series since the beginning. Keelie Heartwood is a great character. She is full of love and angst and the very real feelings of a teenager. Peascod (the evil villain from the first Scions of Shadow book) is up to his usual tricks, bring chaos and discord in his wake. This book you learn more about Keelie's 'fae' side and what the fae themselves are like. There's an amazing forest god named Herne who wants her to be his consort. Herne is the King of the Underworld. The Underworld is home to dwarves, goblins and many more creatures. I was hoping against all hope that Keelie would ditch Sean and go for Herne, but that just didn't happen. Elia is still pregnant. Knot is still a lovable pain and Coyote is as mysterious as ever. There are dragons, sword fighting and double crossing. I hoped for more Sir Davey and dear Zeke. Hopefully in next book when they return to Colorado.

The Butterfly Clues - Kate Ellison

The Butterfly CluesThe Butterfly Clues by Kate Ellison

Kate Ellison has portrayed 'Lo' perfectly. You step into the mind of someone with a serious illness. You feel the confusion, the drive to do things that you don't want to do. I believe Kate spent so much time on the overwhelming character of Lo that the other characters were lacking. You have the boyfriend- a street-wise artist stealing art supplies from dumpsters and living in abandoned buildings. He wasn't a very compelling character, just another part of the scenery. You have the dead stripper -Sapphire- who was the object of an obsession for both Lo and her murderer. That isn't to say I didn't enjoy the book, but your mind goes into sensory overload coping with Lo's mind. There's no room for any other emotions.

The book was well written otherwise, and I have to give the author major props for the description and build of Lo. She hit the nail on the head. I'm not sure I've read a book that has conveyed the sickness that is OCD in such a compelling manner.
